Classic Iran films on show in Tehran gallery

A lineup of classic Iranian films is scheduled to be displayed at a gallery in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

A lineup of classic Iranian films has been scheduled to be displayed at a gallery in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

An exhibition displaying a collection of 20 marquee memorable Iranian movies such as ‘Blood Season’ (1981) and ‘The Inner Beast’ (1983) will commence at Tehran’s Salam Gallery on Saturday, December 30.

Entitled ‘Plakart’ (Placard), the collection will feature other films including those by prominent directors Reza Mirlohi, Siavash Shakeri, and Khosro Sinai, among others.

The exhibition will also feature classic movie posters for ‘Pinocchio’, ‘The Vikings’ and several other acclaimed movies from around the world.

“The marquees are an inseparable part of our graphic design history,” said the collector of the set, Ali Bakhtiari.

Over the years, Bakhtiari obtained the marquees from owners of movie theaters or from bookstores.

The exhibit will run until January 22 at the gallery, with a session on posters and marquees also scheduled to be held at the Film Museum of Iran on January 22.

The exhibition is being organized by the Iranian Graphic Designers Society in collaboration with the Silver Cypress Exhibition and the Film Museum of Iran.
